TypeSafe released Jev this week, a model that answers only typed questions: pick one option, give a score, say yes or no with a probability. No prose, no reasoning trace. We wired it into the accounts payable module of a platform we run for a client and tested it two ways: nine fresh invoice PDFs, and then 2,069 supplier bills the finance team had already coded in Xero, which gave us ground truth for every one. Jev matched Claude on accuracy at about 35 times lower cost and 16 times lower latency, its confidence was honest enough to drive an auto-approve gate, and it was useless without one specific piece of context.
