The Challenge
OutPost Facilities is an independent TV and film post-production company based at the world-famous Pinewood Studios. Their clients — producers, directors, and executives — often need to review and approve edits, colour grading, and sound mixing in real time. Traditionally, this required physical presence in the studio, creating scheduling bottlenecks and travel overhead for production stakeholders spread across locations.
OutPost needed a platform that would let clients monitor post-production sessions remotely — but with zero compromise on quality. The stream had to deliver broadcast-grade colour accuracy and audio fidelity with sub-second latency, on any device, under varying network conditions.
Our Approach
As OutPost's exclusive technology partner, we designed and built the complete OutPost Livestream platform across three systems:
Mobile App (iOS & Android): A cross-platform app built in Flutter, using Dolby's Millicast SDK for WebRTC-based livestream playback. The app delivers broadcast-quality video and audio with adaptive bitrate streaming that adjusts to network conditions in real time. We implemented secure credential storage, wakelock for uninterrupted viewing during long sessions, and integrated Bugfender for production diagnostics.
Admin Dashboard: A Laravel 11 application with Orchid Platform providing a full-featured admin interface for managing livestream sessions, user access, and link-based sharing. Studio operators can control who sees what, generate secure access links, and monitor active streams — all from a single dashboard.
Backend API: A Laravel 11 backend orchestrating the entire streaming pipeline through a custom Dolby/Millicast integration layer. The service manages publish token creation, stream subscriptions, and webhook-driven thumbnail generation. Authentication is handled via Laravel Sanctum with two-factor support, and the infrastructure runs on AWS (S3, SES) with MySQL and Docker-based development via Laravel Sail.
The Result
OutPost Livestream transformed how the company's clients engage with post-production. Producers and directors can now monitor sessions from anywhere in the world — on their phone or tablet — with the same colour accuracy and audio quality they'd experience sitting in the suite at Pinewood.
The platform eliminated the need for on-site presence during routine reviews, dramatically reducing scheduling friction and travel costs. Real-time remote access improved collaboration and transparency among production stakeholders, enabling faster feedback loops and accelerating production timelines. The secure link-sharing system gave OutPost granular control over access, letting them extend the platform to clients without requiring app installation.
